In her two inaugural roles, Dr. Teresa M. Chan provides strategic, academic and operational leadership to advance the vision, mission, design and implementation of the university’s new school of medicine.
She champions the school’s mandate to offer a new approach to medical education in Ontario, fostering academic excellence, commitment to equity and community inclusion, and innovation to address the changing needs for health-care delivery and practice.
Chan has been a practising emergency physician at Hamilton Health Sciences since 2013. Her clinical work involves helping patients navigate societal and systemic challenges that prevent them from being seen as a whole person, and facilitating their access to care to maintain their dignity.
